We're so excited to celebrate with you in beautiful Carlsbad, California! Since San Diego is a bit spread out, we've put together everything you need to know about flying in, getting around, and where to stay. Take a look below and reach out if you have any questions!
Travel
Flying In
You have two airport options depending on your budget, flight availability, and how much travel you want to tackle on either end.
San Diego International Airport (SAN)
Best for: Guests flying in from across the country — this airport has the most flight options and is typically the cheaper choice.
Location: Places you right in downtown San Diego — perfect if you'd like to sightsee before heading up to Carlsbad!
Distance to Carlsbad: About 40 minutes on a good day, or up to 1 hour 10 minutes if you land during evening rush hour.
Rental cars: Available on-site.
McClellan-Palomar Airport (CLD)
Best for: Guests who want the smoothest arrival with the least travel on the ground.
Location: Just 10 minutes from The Old Rancho Wedding Estate and Fresco Cocina, and about 8 minutes from our hotel block.
Flight options: Limited routes and typically more expensive since it's a smaller regional airport.
Rental cars: Available on-site.
Getting around
Transportation
San Diego is spread out, so here are your best options for getting from Point A to Point B:
Rental Car
The most flexible option — great if you're planning to sightsee, explore the coast, or hop between Carlsbad and San Diego. Available at both airports.
Uber / Lyft
Easy and convenient for shorter trips around Carlsbad. Just note:
A ride from San Diego International to Carlsbad typically runs around $60 (more during peak hours).
Rides within Carlsbad are quick and affordable.
The COASTER Train
Our favorite stress-free option from San Diego International!
The COASTER is a scenic commuter train that runs along the coast — a relaxing (and affordable) way to skip traffic and avoid a pricey Uber.
How to catch it from San Diego International:
Hop on the free San Diego Flyer shuttle from the airport to the Old Town Transit Center.
Board the COASTER heading north.
Exit at the station closest to your hotel: Encinitas, Carlsbad Poinsettia, or Carlsbad Village.
